Why photographers are looking for Aryeo alternatives

The narrow answer is the Zillow acquisition (announced 2022, integrated steadily since). The specific things photographers tend to cite:

• Aryeo became the exclusive uploader for Zillow Showcase listings, narrowing photographer choice on how listings get distributed
• Zillow's "Media Experts" program began contacting agents directly with reshoot offers — for an independent photographer whose client is that agent, the overlap is real
• Matterport tours were pulled from Zillow listings in favor of Showcase-format media
• Aryeo Pro pricing crept upward over time (from around $50/mo to around $99–$179/mo)

The broader answer is a question that's older than the acquisition: do you want your delivery platform to be owned by the same company that owns the most-visited real estate portal? Reasonable photographers come down on both sides.

What to evaluate (an honest checklist)

Before comparing platforms, get clear on what you actually need:

• Pricing model. Subscription or pay-per-tour? Pay-per-tour wins for variable volume; subscription sometimes wins above ~30 listings/month if the per-listing rate is right.
• White label / your own domain. Can tours live on tours.yourbusiness.com instead of the platform's domain? If your brand matters to you, this matters.

• Does the platform compete with you for the agent relationship? Most independents don't; some (or their parent companies) do.
• Add-ons beyond hosting. Floor plans, single-property websites, scheduling, invoicing, CRM — Aryeo is feature-broad; most alternatives are narrower.

The main alternatives, honestly

HD Photo Hub

The closest "Aryeo without the portal owner" alternative. Pay-per-delivery model (typically $5–$10 per listing). Strong on photographer branding and client management; explicitly independent. Probably the best fit if you want most of Aryeo's breadth without the Zillow connection. Downside: more setup complexity than the simpler tour hosts; learning curve is real.

Spiro

The pay-per-use story stripped down. $5/listing flat with no subscription. Markets itself directly against subscription tools with the "no subscription, pay only when you deliver" message. Narrower feature set than HD Photo Hub or Aryeo — primarily tour hosting + media delivery, less of the CRM/business-management layer. Good if you just want a host.

TourBuzz

Long-running per-tour credit model, roughly $12–$15/tour. Strong virtual tour presentation, less emphasis on the CRM/scheduling side. Established player; some photographers have been using it for years. Less marketing push lately than the newer entrants.

CloudPano

Subscription model ($19–$33/month) but focused specifically on 360° / interactive panorama tours. Not a like-for-like Aryeo replacement — CloudPano is a specialist in 360 walkthroughs. If your business is photo-based, this is probably the wrong tool; if you're shooting a lot of 360, it's worth looking at separately from the "general tour host" question.

How to actually migrate

The honest version is "it's less work than you fear, but not free":

1. Stop the bleeding first. Pick the new platform and use it for your next shoot. Don't try to migrate everything at once; just stop creating new work on the old system.
2. Update the MLS links on currently-active listings. This is the real lift — re-host the tour on the new platform, swap the URL in the MLS field. For active listings, a few minutes each. Inactive/closed listings usually aren't worth the time.
3. Tell your agent clients. A brief email: "I'm moving my tour hosting; here's the new format your tour links will use going forward; existing listings remain at their current URL." Simple. Most agents won't care; the ones who do appreciate the heads-up.
4. Keep the old Aryeo account active for ~60 days for any active listings that are still live. After that, downgrade or cancel.

How to choose

Three honest questions narrow it fast:

• Do you do more than 30 listings a month consistently? Aryeo's subscription math sometimes wins at that scale. Below that, pay-per-tour is almost always cheaper.
• Do you need CRM / scheduling / invoicing built in? Then HD Photo Hub is the closest Aryeo replacement. If you already have other tools for that, pick a narrower, cheaper tour host.
• Does the Zillow connection bother you in principle? If yes, every option above (except Aryeo) is independent. If you shrug at it, the practical differences come down to pricing and features.
